Meet Aly Bermudez
Aly Bermudez has quickly become the pitching coach of choice in Florida since moving down from Boston in 2021. Coach Aly's obsession with softball pitching along with her passion for mentoring and enthusiasm for teaching makes her an incredible instructor. Along with holding a Tincher Pitching certification, Aly studies with a movement/speed expert and works with some of the best pitching coaches in the country. Aly offers private lessons in Sarasota, group lessons in Fort Myers, along with virtual lessons. Aly works with youth, high school, and college pitchers who play at the elite level. She provides a fun and focused learning atmosphere and customizes training for each athlete.
Aly's approach to teaching pitching is unique and is based on natural body movement and movement patterns recognized in all elite level pitchers. After learning and teaching “old school pitching” and even the “new way of pitching”, Coach Aly is always digging for easier, better, and more efficient ways to approach pitching. Although her style is unconventional, it has proven to be easier and more effective.
Coach Aly measures her teaching success based on the pitcher's feedback - if it feels better and makes sense, we are improving. Aly encourages her pitchers to ask questions and give feedback as it helps her to help them. Coach Aly encourages her pitchers to take ownership for their development by requiring they bring a notebook to lessons and to keep notes on their favorite drills, cues, what's working and what's not, and to take notes after games. Coach Aly makes herself available as much as possible to her students and their families to contact her with video, questions, and updates as much as possible. She uses the OnForm app as an aid to send video feedback and instruction to her students.
Aly is currently the head coach at New College of Florida and has made many connections across Florida and other parts of the country with college coaches, helping her to advocate for her pitching students and get them recruited.
My Story
Since I first started playing softball at five years old – I have been obsessed. As a kid, I always had a ball or bat in my hand, practicing in the yard or inside the garage during the winter. I played high school and elite travel ball, eventually advancing to college softball. Unfortunately my career ended early at the end of my sophomore year due to a shoulder injury that was caused by poor mechanics that I was taught. I’ve made it my mission to prevent pitchers from experiencing the pain, frustration and confusion that I did.
